TetherX is an open cloud VMS - one platform across cameras, access readers and alarm panels - delivered through accredited installers since 2013.
We build the software. The local installer scopes, fits and supports the job. The customer keeps both relationships and the freedom to mix any hardware vendor on the wall.
A platform that grew up inside the trade.
We started in 2013 hosting a single multi-site recording bridge for a UK installer who needed remote video that did not require a customer-side server. Over the decade since, every new feature - cloud retention, AI analytics, access integration, the alarm-panel layer - shipped because an integrator asked for it on a job. That is the bit that has not changed.
Bridge to the cloud
First TetherBox in the field. Multi-site recording from a single browser, an open API for integrators, cameras kept off the public Internet by design.
Multi-tenant + alarms
The Timeline concept lets one integrator manage every customer estate from one login. Live in-browser streaming, intruder-panel integration and the supported-camera compatibility database land in the same year.
ANPR + open API
Automatic number-plate recognition with real-time alerts. A documented public API for third-party integrations, cloud-backed recording, PTZ controls and the HD live-view rewrite.
TetherBox + secure-by-default
The platform rebrands from TimeBox to TetherBox. Two-factor authentication, OAuth-style application access and drive-health monitoring make secure-by-default the baseline.
Regional + mobile
India cloud region online. The TetherBox hardware range expands (Pico, Giga, rackmount), the branded iOS app ships and the events page goes real-time.
AI alarms + ARC integration
Machine-learning false-alarm filtering across the camera fleet. Out-of-the-box integration with IMMIX, Sentinel, HikCentral and CONXTD alarm-receiving centres. Paxton Net2 access and two-way audio land alongside.
Platform speed-up
A foundational platform rebuild. TetherX 47% faster end-to-end, the TetherBox 30% faster on 25% less RAM. 100-camera live-view layouts and HikProConnect alarm pull-through.
In-house AI + private cloud
In-house AI model deployed for council rubbish detection and bespoke security scenarios. Software-only TetherBox deployments and private-cloud instances for enterprise estates over 100 sites.

Automatic camera onboarding and bulk reconfiguration across a site in a few clicks. Monitoring Strip and ARC Performance Reports for alarm-receiving centres. Australian launch and a growing channel programme - 1,000+ integrations, 2,000+ deployments live.

Roman wrote the first TetherBox in 2013 and still owns the platform direction. Mike joined in 2020 to build the partner channel and run operations. Behind them: a support team in the UK and an engineering team in Ukraine shipping the platform. Engineering on one side, the channel on the other - and no layers in between you and the roadmap.
